About · The founders

A bridge, built from personal experience.

Kenya Cares was not born from a business plan. It was born from the shared life of two people — who took root in Kenya and arrived in Tyrol.

Ivy Kibandi Hourmont
Ivy Kibandi Hourmont · CEO

From Thika via Nairobi — the bridge to Kenya.

Ivy was born and raised in Thika, a small town in Kenya. She moved to Nairobi in her early years. Long before Kenya Cares existed she was building her own businesses in Kenya — she knows every district of the capital, every market, every language school and every training centre from daily life.

Today she is the CEO of Kenya Cares and the heart of our talent sourcing. Her on-the-ground connections — to language schools, training centres and Nursing Students Associations — are what make our placements so personal and reliable. She personally selects who gets a card on our platform.

What she brings is hard to put on a job spec: cultural intuition, an eye for character, the patience of a mentor and the pace of an entrepreneur. Ivy makes Kenya Cares what it is — a true bridge.

Andrew Hourmont · Director

Welsh by birth, Tyrolean by choice — and event pioneer.

Andrew Hourmont was born in Cardiff (Wales) in 1966. In 1976, his winter-sports-loving family moved to Innsbruck — and Tyrol became his second home. As a teenager he was on the British alpine ski national team, then in snowboard management, then a sought-after ski and snowboard photographer.

In the 90s he founded one of the world's most significant snowboard contests in Innsbruck — and wrote sports history. Within a few years the event became the leading meeting point of the international snowboard scene in Innsbruck, Munich and Los Angeles, shaping an entire generation far beyond Tyrol.

Behind Kenya Cares today stands three decades of large-scale event experience: logistics, reliability, international partnerships, resilience. At Kenya Cares he runs operations, compliance and the Austrian network.

Vision & Mission

Bridges instead of barriers.

Our Vision

A world where borders are not barriers, but bridges — where talent is recognized, dignity is restored, and care connects us all.

Our Mission

To bridge the gap between Kenya's skilled workforce and Austria's labor needs by creating ethical, culturally sensitive, and life-changing recruitment pathways — empowering individuals, supporting systems, and enriching lives on both sides.

What we believe

Five values. Non-negotiable.

Dignity at the core

Every human being deserves to work and live with dignity. Ethical recruitment and fair treatment at every stage.

Time over haste

A placement is not a product. It takes months, not days. We take that time — especially in the selection.

Real people

Every candidate on our website is real. We do not invent profiles. We connect lives.

A home after arrival

Our responsibility does not end at the airport. Housing, paperwork, integration — we stay.

No grey zones

Visas, contracts, recognitions — all 100% compliant with Austrian law.

The team

People from both worlds.

Four colleagues in Innsbruck, one in Nairobi — together we carry the bridge between the continents.
